Real estate attorney Warren Shaw will discuss the history and importance of America’s first publicly-sponsored housing complex for the poor, the East Village’s landmarked First Houses.

The First Houses were designated a NYC landmark in 1974. As part of the Center’s joint project with the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission to provide free public online access to the City’s entire collection of landmark designation reports, the First Houses designation report is available on our website.
