Not every developer is doing a good job making Queens bigger, and Councilman Tony Avella wants to cut those who aren’t down to size.
At a press conference last Saturday, joined by roughly 20 neighbors in front of the City Hall steps, the councilman called for action against real estate tycoons who have repeatedly flaunted the city’s building code.
“Our communities are being destroyed by unscrupulous developers who care little about the zoning,” he charged.
Both Avella and his fellow rally-goers took particular aim at Tommy Huang – the controversial owner of various properties in neighborhoods throughout Queens – to task for unlawful construction tactics.
