"HISTORIC INWOOD FILMS": Tuesday, April 5 @ 7:30pm

 “HISTORIC INWOOD FILMS”

TUESDAY APRIL 5th at 7:30 PM.

“[I’m] trying to picture the way it was. Just the trees and the river, before people came along and fouled it all up.” Clint Eastwood, looking down at Inwood from Fort Tryon in the film “Coogan’s Bluff” (1968).

This month Lost Inwood presents our annual “Movie Night” – an entertaining and educational mini-fest of rare historic films and excerpts, featuring vintage footage of northern Manhattan.

From 1968 we’ll see the famous Irish documentary film “Goodbye to Glocamorra” produced by Irish television about Inwood’s Irish population during the turbulent 1960s. We’ll tell you where you can see this important film on the big screen in the near future.

Next (and also from 1968) we’ll view excerpts from Clint Eastwood’s film “Coogan’s Bluff,” which aside from panoramic views of Inwood features an exciting motorcycle chase through the heather garden and the old Billings Estate driveway.

We’ll premiere recently unearthed 16mm footage of the Cloisters from the 1940s, which includes mindblowing panoramic shots of Inwood.

The grand finale by popular demand is “Boathouse Days” – an often hilarious and intimate look at one man’s childhood spent in a Tubby Hook boathouse during the late 1920s, narrated by the inimitable Richard Roberts.

Please join us at the Indian Road Café on Tuesday April 5th at 7:30PM for this free event.
