DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — The fast food chain Arby’s will soon occupy the landmarked Gage & Tollner restaurant on Fulton Mall in Downtown Brooklyn.

The Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) on Tuesday approved the changes made by an Arby’s design team in a 7-1-1 vote, with one against and one abstention, according to Elisabeth de Bourbon, LPC press secretary.

“Commissioners praised the owner and architect for improving the plan, which was originally shown to and turned down by the commission on May 19,” she said. “They appreciated that the architect had found a way to preserve the arched and mirrored wall at the rear of the restaurant, and to add wood flooring that matches the historic wood flooring.”
