CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

The New York Landmarks Conservancy’s  Lucy G. Moses Awards annually highlight the best of preservation projects and leaders.

Named in honor of a noted philanthropist, the Lucy G. Moses Preservation Awards recognize the property owners, builders, artisans, and designers who renew the beauty and utility of New York City’s distinctive architecture. The Awards celebrate the success of historic preservation and its role in the economic, social, and cultural vitality of the City.

The Preservation Leadership Award is bestowed upon an outstanding individual in the field of historic preservation. Past honorees include Tony Avella, Kent Barwick, Simon Breines, Giorgio Cavaglieri, Stanley Cogan, Joan K. Davidson, Kenneth K. Fisher, James Marston Fitch, Margot Gayle, Sarah Bradford Landau, Joan Maynard, Evelyn and Everett Ortner,  Nancy and Otis Pratt Pearsall, Adolf K. Placzek, Jan Hird Pokorny, Henry Hope Reed, Elizabeth Barlow Rogers, and Vincent Scully.

The New York Landmarks Conservancy is one of the nation’s leading preservation organizations, with award-winning financial and technical programs. We have provided more than $33 million in grants and low-interest loans over the last 35 years.

NOMINATION PROCESS

There is no official entry form.

Submissions may be in the form of a letter or narrative statement and should briefly describe the individual, organization, or project and the reason for the nomination.

Project nominations should include:

  • A complete list of the project’s owners, architects, consultants, contractors, and craftspersons (including all company names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and contact persons).
  • Illustrations should be labeled as before and after views, then submitted in the form of digital files suitable for inclusion in a Power Point presentation (.jpg format only) or 35mm slides if digital is not available.

Only projects that are substantially completed during 2008 and located within the five boroughs of New York City will be considered. Books, other publications, and films are not eligible.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, January 16, 2009.
