THANK YOU ! – to all of you who attended the City Council hearing today, to all of you who have cared and worked over these past years to ensure old PS 64, former Charas is designated an individual landmark of the City of New York.

City Council voted unanimously today (48 members
attended the msession) to LANDMARK this culturally, historically and architecturally significant building.

Community support has been crucial – so again and
again, thank you !

The owner, represented by Gregg Singer, continues to
strip them architectural detail from the building. Crews are working on the 10th Street side.

As a Landmark, the owner is required to keep the building in good repair, which includes being weather tight and structurally sound.

If you pass the building and notice open windows or broken windows, or trees that might be growing from various ledges, whose roots might be growing into the façade of the building, AND if YOU BELIEVE these conditions are leading to the building’s disrepair, you have the right to call 311 and make a complaint DETAILING the disrepair you observe.

IF you do so, it is good to keep the confirmation number you are given by the 311 operator.

The address of old PS 64, former Charas is 605 East 9th
Street, between Avenues B & C, stretching from 9th to 10th Streets. Remember, it is a Landmark Building !
