Mic and I after last Tuesday’s BSA continuation hearings on 39 6th Ave and 400 15th St. decided to go upstairs to the BSA offices and pull the file on ol’ 614 7th Ave. DOB was due to have sent in it’s recommendation letter on May 9 in regards to the legality of the original and post-amended plans for 614 7th Ave. We were not wholly prepared for the most recent letter. Charles Hack outlines it well here in the Park Slope Courier:

In a nutshell, the DOB has assessed due to many, many, many (did I say many?) objections with the original self certified plans via Scarano Architects in the original August 5 AND the revised plans from November 2005 (post DOB audit), that NOTHING should be considered legal construction at 614 7th Ave. No legal permits, no work. Nada.

They ask that IF the BSA actually wants to consider the BZY application legit (something they strongly recommend against), then only work completed after 2:41pm on November 15, 2005 can be counted. We almost fell over. Issues that DOB with architect aside, their further investigation and latest assessment has to be “the nail in the coffin” for the vesting application…and perhaps the development site.

We’ll see how the BSA interprets this on June 6 (D-Day), but we’re confident the case will be closed. Any support on that final decision date will be appreciated, as always.
