Program Coordinator for Revolving Loan Fund

The New York City Historic Properties Fund, Inc. is one of the largest private revolving loan funds for historic preservation in the country, with assets of about $8 million. Since 1982, it has advanced approximately $18 million for restoration work on over 200 buildings within the five boroughs of New York City. The Conservancy administers the Historic Properties Fund, which is staffed by a manager and two program coordinators who report to the manager. The program coordinators provide essential project management assistance for each loan/ restoration endeavor to ensure that Fund loans are used appropriately and that the financed work — often specialized restoration — is of high quality. The duties of the program coordinator include:

*Outreach and Promotion of the Program, includes attending and making presentations at community meetings; answering telephone inquiries; overseeing direct mail campaigns; organizing and making site visits to properties; taking photographs, preparing PowerPoint presentations; etc.

*Application Intake and Processing, includes coordinating application materials and ensuring that applications are complete; defining a scope of restoration work; performing traditional underwriting and due diligence activities with respect to lending; evaluating creditworthiness of applicants; determining financing structures and feasibility of the projects.

*Board Materials and Administrative Reporting, includes preparing loan analyses and other reports for presentation to the Board; drafting quarterly, annual, and other reports as required.

*Closing Projects, includes gathering information for closing attorney and working closely with applicants to ensure that all documents are complete and correct.

*Project Management Services, includes coordination with architects, contractors, and borrowers vis-a-vis the administration and progress of construction work; processing loan advances; gathering requisite documentation for payment.

*Potential Historic District Identification, includes managing interns for surveying and researching new areas of the City for the purposes of making them National Register-eligible; reviewing and editing reports to the State Historic Preservation Office in this regard; coordinating with private groups and public agencies to locate new potential historic districts.

Preferred backgrounds of candidates include graduate level education and/or experience in the fields of historic preservation, real estate finance, real estate development, community development, and urban planning. Salary shall be commensurate with an applicant’s education and experience.
