Rally to Save Staten Island’s Last Beach Colony

As regular readers are aware, time is running out for the Cedar Grove Beach Club on Staten Island. At the end of September, the Parks Department plans to take possession of the 41 beach homes and demolish most of them. Despite broad, bi-partisan support for preserving this community from almost all of Staten Island’s elected officials as well as the Chair of the City Council Parks Committee, despite there being no real plan for beach rehabilitation nor any capital funds allocated for this project, despite the completely unnecessary nature of this project, the Parks Department continues to move ahead with its plans for destruction.

Join elected representatives and residents of Cedar Grove on this Thursday, September 16 at 1pm on City Hall steps to protest this thoughtless and cruel destruction of Staten Island’s last historic beach community.
