Save the Slope!

We are pleased to announce a new campaign aimed at extending the Park Slope Historic District in Brooklyn. For the most part, the majority of the current Historic District exists between 7th Avenue and Prospect Park, and this effort, known as Save the Slope, is hoping to extend the boundaries to include blocks further south and down toward 4th Avenue.

Save the Slope is an offshoot of the Park Slope Civic Council, a longtime community presence and civic leader that has fought for sustainable, responsible development in the neighborhood. The Council was instrumental in helping to save Park Slope from the bulldozers in the 60’s and led the way to establishing the 1973 Historic District which largely accounts for the intact architectural beauty of the North Slope.
