Join us as we honor Immigrant History Week with fascinating biographical accounts of local Irish and Irish-American residents who have impacted Staten Island with regard to politics, religion, culture, sports and more. Also to be featured: Irish immigration, the Quarantine Station, and the Draft Riots of 1863. An interesting time will be had by all!

Kreischerville, the community we now call Charleston, is rich in history! Discover brick baron Balthazar Kreischer’s famous 19th century riverside factory; the Androvette family and their maritime activities; and historic homes, landscapes, and cemeteries. A special discussion on the NYS Park, Clay Pit Ponds State Park Preserve will focus on wildlife, habitats, clay mining activities relative to nature, and rare and endangered species of the Park Preserve. Bring
water, wear comfortable shoes, and remember there will be a few “ups and downs.” A specially prepared box lunch will be enjoyed by all.
