Talk and tour focusing on the unique history and environment of this most special New York State Park Preserve. Discussions and observations on such plants and animals as orchids, oaks, snapping turtles, Fowler’s toads, fence lizards; wetlands, forest communities and sandy barrens; clay deposits; the former Kreischer Brickworks; local farming; neighboring Sandy Ground; and preservation of the park by Protectors of Pine Oak Woods. Added highlight: never before seen documents relative to the Kreischer brickworks and the Kreischer family!

Held at the Clay Pit Ponds State Park Preserve Visitor Center, corner of Sharrotts Road and Veterans Road West, Charleston, Staten Island.

Program hosted by Curator of History, Patricia M. Salmon. Program is geared for adults.
