Walking Tour of upper West End Avenue
The West 104th St. Block Association and Bloomingdale Aging in Place
invite you to join a Walking Tour of upper West End Avenue from 107th to 96th Streets on Sunday, June 28, at 1:00PM.
West End Avenue is one of the most remarkable ensembles of residential buildings in America, but new development may change its character. Several neighborhood organizations and local officials are currently working to have West End Avenue designated as a historic district by the city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission.
Gilbert Tauber, urban planner and historian, will lead the tour from Straus Park southward, describing West End Avenue’s history, architecture and notable personalities, as well as the issues involved in landmarking.
Meet at Straus Park, at 106th Street and West End Avenue at 1:00PM. The cost is $15.
