The Lower East Side Needs Your Help

Last week, the Lower East Side Preservation Coalition made a strong presentation to Community Board 3’s Parks, Recreation, Waterfront and Landmarks Committee requesting the support of CB3 for the Lower East Side Historic District. After this presentation, the Parks, Recreation, Waterfront and Landmarks Committee recommended that the full community board vote in support of the designation. The committee did not have a quorum so it’s only a recommendation. The committee voted 5 in favor, 1 opposed and 1 abstained.
At this point we need to show increased support and we need your help. Please sign the petition on the Lower East Side Preservation Coalition website; http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/savetheLES/
come and/or encourage others to attend the community board meeting next Tuesday; and encourage friends, members and others to sign up at the Community Board meeting to speak in favor of the Lower East Side Historic District.
